Would the E92 M3 be considered in the same class as say the 458, 911, C63 AMG? To me the M3 seems so plebeian. Cause if it is classed the same couldn't the BOSS 302 be as well? Dunno, just had this though in the shower cause of a "super car" exhaust video had a few M3 in it.
M3 and BOSS 302 chasing each other for your time.

C63? Definitely
911? Depends on trim level
458? Nope

Say 911 GT2 or something that's kinda right below race level.

911 GT2? Hell no.
911 Carerra S? Probably

So you would just need to look at the cars the compete with it in the GS class race then? (As pictured above)

C63 for sure, but stock to stock I actually think the M3 is more of a "raw" track car than the C63. As two similar cars, the C63 is more on the plush side and the M3 a more visceral experience IMO.
458 is entirely different and the 911 I would say is still in another class depending, on the car.

No, streetcar class doesn't equal racecar class.

Maybe a supercharged E92, but definitely not stock.

The body may be "plebeian", but the engine surely is not.

Well how would it say compare to the BOSS 302
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:22 |

Ya all in the videos either had an exhaust or were stock.

You can say the same for the BOSS 302 could you class it the same way?
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:24 |

I mean as in say the model wise. Like in the GS class you have the V8 Vantage, 911, BOSS 302, Z/28, and M3 to name a few. would they all be lumped into one in the same category?
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:27 |
|
Sure, why not. The M3 is a fast car and the 458 is a very fast car but a fast car none the less.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:28 |

So the BOSS 302 can fit in with them as well? Because the BOSS is faster then the M3.

No, Aston and 911? yeah
Boss and Z/28? yup with maybe the M3, but that's more in between the ponycars and the GT's
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:34 |

I mean just cause it's exclusive it can be lumped with the others. Performance is performance

I wouldn't consider a base 911, a C63 AMG, an M3, or a Boss 302 a supercar. Even a regular 458 is just over/on the line of that distinction.
That said, a sweet exhaust note is a sweet exhaust note, and I have respect for one regardless of what car it's coming from.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:42 |

It's just the fact that I have seen so many M3 in "super car" videos.

And price and luxury are price and luxury.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:44 |

But still you can get a 996 Turbo at around the Same price as a BOSS 302, C63 AMG, and there are some V8 Vantages out there all in the same price range.

Sure.

Used price doesn't determine classification.

It's because they sound super - ha!
Some M3 owners put just as much money into modifying their cars as they did purchasing them. A supercharged E9x M3 with a full Akrapovic on Ohlins and HREs with a BBK is pretty damn super...

I'm looking at cars of the same year.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:09 |

I mean you could do the same to a BOSS 302.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:29 |

And that would be pretty super, too.
